How to activate your eSIM after landing
Exactly what to switch on when you arrive so your eSIM connects to the local network.
Most plans start counting validity from the first time they connect to a network at your destination. That is why you install before traveling but only activate on arrival.
Arrival checklist
- 1
Turn your travel eSIM line ON in Settings.
- 2
Set it as your line for mobile / cellular data.
- 3
Turn Data Roaming ON for that line (this is required and safe with a travel eSIM).
- 4
Turn your home line's data OFF to avoid accidental charges.
- 5
Wait 1–2 minutes for the local network to appear, then open a website to confirm.
Data Roaming must be ON
A travel eSIM connects to a partner network, so it is technically "roaming." Leaving Data Roaming off is the single most common reason an eSIM shows no internet.
Success
Seeing the local network name and a data icon means you're connected. Enjoy your trip.
